Plate Reader

(Bare bones protocol)

1. Reserve plate reader!
2. Push the large start button on the front of the plate reader. It will take ~3 minutes to warm up. This is the last time the plate reader needs to be touched -- do not touch options on the plate reader itself!
3. Turn on the computer, if needed. Password is
4. Click on 'Softmax Pro Plate' icon
5. Refresh connecting to machine, until the red 'X' is replaced with a checkmark.
6. 'New Experiment' under 'Application Settings', or the cog icon
7. Plate is a 96-well standard plate (either clear lidded or opaque lidded, as needed)
8. Select which wells to read by clicking on the plate image
9. Kinetic reads; shaking should be linear to not push cells or debris around edges
10. "Save as" Desktop, then a folder with your name and graduation year
11. Temperature: 21 degrees
12. Run
13. Tray should open on its own
14. A1 well should be placed in the upper right on this tray
15. Use machine to retract the tray; do not push shut!
16. 2nd checkbox for optimization
17. ... running ...
18. "Save as", Export as Excel. Rows format is easiest. save as date_experiment_initals within your folder on the desktop.
